Terms & Conditions

Last updated: January 2025

1. Services

Hobart Rubbish Removal ("the Company") provides rubbish removal services across Hobart, Tasmania. By booking a service with us, you agree to these terms and conditions.

2. Quotes and Pricing

All quotes provided are estimates based on information supplied at the time of booking. Final pricing is confirmed on-site before work commences. We reserve the right to revise the quoted price if the volume or type of rubbish is significantly different from what was described. No work will commence at a revised price without your approval.

3. Scheduling

Arrival times are estimates only. While we make every effort to arrive within the specified time window, delays may occur due to traffic, weather or prior jobs running over. Same-day service is subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed.

4. Access and Safety

You must ensure safe and reasonable access to the rubbish to be removed. The Company reserves the right to refuse to remove items that are unsafe, hazardous, or not accessible without risk to our team. Hazardous materials including asbestos, chemicals and biohazard waste are not accepted.

5. Prohibited Items

For safety, regulatory and licensing reasons, we do not remove the following items. Please contact a specialist licensed disposal contractor for these:

  • Asbestos or any asbestos-containing material (specialist asbestos removalist required)
  • Hazardous chemicals, paints (wet), thinners, solvents, oils and fuels
  • Biohazardous waste, medical waste, sharps and used syringes
  • Explosives, ammunition, gas cylinders (full or partial) and pressurised containers
  • Radioactive materials
  • Animal carcasses, food waste in volume (commercial food waste)

If our crew identifies prohibited items on arrival, those items will not be loaded. We will direct you to an appropriate specialist contractor where possible.

6. Volume and Weight Disputes

Pricing is based on volume (cubic metres in the truck) plus a small allowance for material type. If on-site volume is significantly larger than the original phone or written quote, we will provide a revised quote in writing or verbally before any loading begins. You may decline the revised quote with no charge, or accept and proceed.

For heavy inert materials (concrete, soil, bricks), tipping fees are weight-based at the receiving facility. We provide a per-cubic-metre rate that includes typical weight; significantly heavier loads may be re-priced on-site before loading.

7. Damage Liability

Our crews carry public liability insurance. Before any work begins, we conduct a brief walk-through with you and flag any pre-existing damage (scuffs on walls, marks on door frames, scratches on flooring) to keep our liability fair. We commit to flagging any new damage we cause during the work, on the spot, before we leave the site.

Damage claims must be raised within 48 hours of job completion. We will repair or arrange repair of any damage we caused; our maximum liability is limited to the cost of remediation or the value of the job, whichever is greater.

8. Photos for Evidence

Our crews take photos before, during or after jobs for our internal records — to document volume, pre-existing damage, completion, and disposal where required. These photos are stored privately as outlined in our Privacy Policy.

9. Weather and Cancellations

Severe weather (storms, extreme heat, flooding) may force us to reschedule outdoor jobs for safety reasons. We will contact you as early as possible if a weather-related rescheduling is required and offer the next available slot. No penalty fees apply for weather-related rescheduling on our side.

Cancellations by the customer with less than 4 hours' notice on the day of booking may incur a cancellation fee equal to the crew callout cost. We appreciate as much notice as possible so we can reassign crews to other jobs.

10. Payment

Payment is due on completion of the job unless otherwise agreed in writing. We accept cash and bank transfer. Invoices for commercial clients are due within 7 days unless otherwise agreed.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Tasmania, Australia. Any dispute will be heard in the courts of Tasmania.
